2003年からあちこちで見かける『交通違反監視カメラ』("Red Light Camera")。検挙されると罰金は$470前後です。私も去年9月27日に検挙されてたのを10月20日ごろ郵便通知が来て知りました。 "Red Light Cameras" started to pop up here and there from around year 2004. I was caught by one of those on September 27, 2009 and received a traffic ticket around October 20, 2010 in the mail.

さて私が赤信号違反チケットもらったのは、ホーソン市 Hindry & Rosecransの交差点でコストコのハス迎えです。 ここには小型ビデオカメラが設置され見えず何のサインもありませんでした。 同交差点の動画を見つけたので下に付けます。↓ My ticket was issued by a Red Light Camera at Hindry & Rosecrans in Hawthorne in front of COSTCO. There must have been a small camera. I did not see any sign at the signal light. I found a video clip showing that particular intersection. I will attach it below.↓
郵送された交通違反チケット Traffic Violation Ticket I received. 写真が掲載され、そのシーンの動画を見れるようになっています。「裁判所に出頭せよ」と書いてありますが、罰金を小切手で郵送すればいいようになってます。カリフォルニア州では赤信号でも一旦停止し安全確認できれば右折していい法律です。その時全タイヤが3秒以上静止していなければならないルールがあります。「ローリングストップ」と云う安全確認しながら完全に止まらない車が多いです。そういう違反でした。罰金は$468だったと思います。高いです！ It showed some photos and there is a link to watch a video clip of me driving that intersection. It said "Appear at Court", but you can mail a check for the penalty. In California state, you can proceed a Right turn in Red upon stopping and making sure the safety at the Intersection. The rule says you must make a complete STOP, meaning all tires of the car must come to a complete stop for more than 3 seconds. There are many cars making "Rolling Stop" to make a Red turn. The ticket was for that type of violation. I believe the ticket was $468. It's expensive!
These Red Light Traffic Cameras monitor running red light, turning Right or Left in Red, Speeding, etc. In city of Hawthorne, 5 Red Light Traffic cameras were installed in March, 2004. The camera that caught me is monitoring mainly turning Right in Red without a complete stop and issuing around 1000 tickets a month. This camera alone generates roughly $500,000 a month revenue. Incredible! This camera is the number one money generating camera in California.
After receiving the ticket, I try not to go to city of Hawthorne. It seems there are Red Light cameras in city of Los Angeles, Gardena, Inglewood, Lawndale, etc.
They are installed and monitored by Redflex Corporation. The company gets commission per ticket issued. Many other cities might install these Red Light cameras to solve financial shortfalls...

There is no sign of "photo enforced camera". This machine alone issues 1000 tickets a month, and the highest ticket issuing machine in California.
